Situation in Brazil

Recife, capital of the state of Pernambuco in northeastern Brazil, is a metropolis marked by stark social inequalities. The population lives in stark contrast: highly developed neighborhoods lie next to disadvantaged areas where living conditions are precarious.

The city’s demographic and economic situation exacerbates the challenges: unemployment is high, especially among young people, and a significant proportion of the population lives in poverty.

In this context, many families live in precarious conditions: economic insecurity, lack of access to support services, few resources to ensure a stable childhood and adequate nutrition for their children. Even though the city is beginning to develop new measures for young children, these efforts are not yet sufficient to meet all needs. That is why support from local institutions that can act quickly and accompany families in their everyday lives remains indispensable.

This is where Espaço da Criança – ARH comes in, an NGO deeply rooted in the reality of Recife. It plays an important role for disadvantaged children and families by providing preschool education, psychosocial support, and nutrition. It provides concrete answers where public services are not always able to protect and support these families.
